Eh. Not the best picture in the world. But rarely do Earth’s Mightiest Heroes pose for a group shot. “Alright guys, if you could all do a quick last minute polish of your respective weapons. Wasp! We can’t see you when you’re that small! Cap, you’re leaving fingerprints all over Iron Man. AND WHO DID THOR’S MAKEUP? SERIOUSLY GUYS! YOU’RE KILLING ME!”
In the hype of the upcoming Avengers assault on our lives next summer, they’ve written up a cartoon to push you over the edge of your seat. And I have to say, it’s not bad. There’s only one season at the moment and it starts out well. With a project like this, I want an origin season. And they delivered! Shield’s villain prisons have a large breakout. Earth’s heroes try to wrangle them up like the cowboys they are. Until Iron Man brings them together as a team, they weren’t doing so hot. But there they are folks. Saving the world again and again in the most unorthodox ways every time.
Alright. To the gritty stuff. Although 10 years apart, this cartoon is going to be compared to Justice League. And it keeps up. But the dynamics of The Avengers and the Justice League are vastly different. The Justice League is so easily believed to be that earth’s migthiest heroes. It’s f-ing Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and more. And their chemistry as a team is unmistakable. They’re ability to work together and tag team for each villain is amazing. The Avengers however seem to have some handicaps the writers have to tip-toe around. It’s a group of individually powerful misfits. It’s like a high school cafeteria, someone’s feelings are going to be hurt so there’s always a storm-off. It’s pathetic. And they range from some woman who can shrink and fight like a wasp to Hulk (a radiating monster hero with written in unlimited strength) and Thor (almost literally…a god on Earth). And their individual villains can only really be fought by the appropriate hero because of the difference in abilities.
I’m not an idiot. I’ve always known these tidbits about these guys. And I’m still riding the hype all the way to their summer movie release. Get pumped guys! These heroes (minus Ant Man/Giant Man and Wasp) are coming to the silver screen! If you accidentally orgasm reading this post because of the level of excitement, I forgive you.
